Backpacks and Dreams: Empowering the Next Generation

Backpacks and Dreams: Empowering the Next Generation

The start of a new school year should be exciting—not stressful. Yet for many farmworker families, the cost of backpacks, notebooks, and uniforms can quickly become overwhelming. This summer, Reserva De La Casa set out to change that.

Through the generosity of donors and local partners, more than 200 children received brand-new backpacks filled with school supplies, healthy snacks, and handwritten notes of encouragement. Volunteers organized a day of games, music, and storytelling so each child could feel celebrated before walking back into the classroom.

Parents watched with pride as their children compared pencil cases and practiced writing their names in brand-new notebooks. “This is the first time my kids have matching supplies,” said one father quietly. “It makes them feel confident—like they belong.

Confidence is exactly what the Education & Scholarship Program is designed to build. Beyond material aid, it provides tutoring connections, mentorship, and workshops that help parents engage with their children’s education. Small steps that ripple forward into brighter futures.

Every backpack carried more than paper and pencils—it carried hope, potential, and proof that someone believes in their dreams.

Your support helps make that belief possible.
